A share link opens a web page outside the app, so anyone you send it to can read it in a browser without installing INVIA first. A visitor needs no account to view it.

Route and ride#

A shared route opens at inviagps.com/route/… and a shared ride opens at /ride/…. Both pages show the map, the line drawn across it, the stats and the waypoints, which is what a visitor needs to judge the ride before saving it.

Open in INVIA takes the visitor into the app, where the copy is saved after sign-in, because a copy has to land in a library that belongs to somebody.

When downloads are off#

A GPX download appears only when the owner switched on Allow downloads for that item, so a route you shared with that switch off is a route a visitor can read but not keep.

What you see:

• No GPX download button is on the page.

What still works:

• The map, the line, the stats and the waypoints are still shown.
• Open in INVIA still works.

What to do:

1. Switch on Allow downloads for that item to give the visitor a GPX download.

Collection#

A shared collection opens at inviagps.com/collection/…, and the map draws every route in its own color so that one route can be told from the next where they run close together.

Under the map the page lists the routes and totals their distance, and Open in INVIA copies the collection into the visitor's library after sign-in.

The two download buttons#

A collection page can offer two downloads, Download for Garmin and Download for mobile, and both appear only when the owner allowed downloads through a download link.

Download for Garmin saves one GPX file named after the collection, and every route inside it arrives as its own track. Each track carries the closest Garmin color name to the color you gave the route, because a Garmin reads color by name rather than by the exact shade. Each route's named points travel with the route as its own points, which means they reach the device attached to that track. Points held by the collection itself and not already attached to a route are added on top, so nothing in the collection is left out of the file.

Both buttons offer a direction arrows box, and only Download for mobile has it checked, because a phone app such as Gaia cannot show which way a track runs on its own. Arrows are drawn into the line unless you uncheck that box, so the file you take to a phone shows the direction of travel without you asking for it. Download for Garmin leaves the same box empty, which means that file carries arrows only when you check it.

When there is no download link#

Without a download link the collection is something a visitor reads rather than something they take away, so nothing is missing from the page except the two buttons.

What you see:

• Neither download button is on the collection page.

What still works:

• The map, the list, the total distance and Open in INVIA still work.

What to do:

1. Allow downloads for the collection.
2. Send the visitor that download link.

Profile#

A public profile shows everything the rider chose to share, listed as stats, epics, rides, routes and collections. It reads either as a map of lines or as cards, so you can look at where somebody rides or at what they have made.

A private profile#

A private profile shows only a name and an invitation to connect. That is the rider's own setting rather than a fault in the link you were sent.

What you see:

• The name.
• The rider's stats, epics, rides, routes and collections are not listed.

What still works:

• The link, which opens the profile rather than returning an error.

What to do:

1. Use the invitation to connect with the rider.

Event#

The event page is open to everyone. It opens at inviagps.com/event/…, and anyone with the link can view it without an account, which means you can post the link publicly for riders who have not joined yet.
