Sharing

Sharing is decided one route at a time, never once for your whole account, so every route and ride you save stays private until you change the level on that item. Nothing reaches Explore or a link until you decide it should.

The three levels#

Every route and ride is Private, Friends or Public.

Tap the pill on the card to cycle to the next level, or open the item page and choose Make Public or Make Private. Setting an item back to Private takes it off Explore again, because the level decides who can see the item rather than what the item holds.

Collections carry two levels instead of three, so a collection is either private or public.

Sharing a link#

Press Share on a route, ride or collection and INVIA makes the item public first if it was not public already, then opens the share sheet. Copy the link there, email it, or hand it to another app. Links look like inviagps.com/route/…, /ride/… and /collection/….

Pressing Share on a private item makes it public, so the pill reads Public and the item appears on Explore. No point is moved and no file is deleted, because sharing decides who can reach the item rather than what it holds. Set the item back to Private to undo it.

Allow downloads#

The share sheet carries one switch, Allow downloads, and it is off by default so that a link you hand out lets people read your work without taking the file.

The switch is set per item rather than per account, which means turning it on for one route leaves every other route as it was. It appears only on content you own. A route you saved from another rider has no Allow downloads row in its share sheet. The link still works, because a visitor can view that route and send it to a device either way. Saving another rider's route#

Another rider's public route shows Import to Library on Explore and on a public page opened inside the app. Press it and INVIA puts a private copy in your library, tagged Imported and filed under Community Imports in the Home sidebar, which keeps saved routes separate from the ones you made.

The copy's item page shows Imported from {rider}, and {rider} is the original rider's display name, or their username when they have not set a display name. The line shows only on a copy whose original belongs to somebody else. It stays after you load the copy into the builder, edit it and save it as new, because the route still came from that rider.

Export is never offered on an imported copy, because the file belongs to the rider who made the route. GPX is hidden on its card, Export GPX is absent on its item page, and Allow downloads is not offered for it. The copy stays in your library, and you can still view, rate, tag, file and send it. Sending the copy to your device still works, so put it on your Garmin rather than exporting it. To get the file itself, ask the rider who shared the route to switch on Allow downloads on their own route.

The allowance counts community saves only, so it does not limit routes you build, import from a file or record. A free account that reaches it sees Community save limit reached, and INVIA points you at Pro for unlimited community saves. The upgrade panel says You've used your free community saves. on the same limit. Pro carries no cap on community saves at all. Community imports.

Collections and the one file download#

A public collection can be viewed, imported and sent to a device by anyone holding the link. Downloading the whole collection as one file is narrower, because only the owner can do it and every route inside must be the owner's own.

A collection holding a route saved from another rider is therefore not offered as one file, since that download would include a route that is not yours to hand out. The collection page still opens, every route in it is still listed, and visitors can still view it, import it and send it to a device. Each route you own can still be shared on its own with Allow downloads on. Take the community import out into a collection of its own and the first collection holds only your own routes, so the one file download comes back.

To hand out a collection download, open the share sheet for the collection and switch on Allow downloads, and INVIA mints a link that carries the permission. The permission lives in the link rather than in the collection, which is why you can revoke it later without changing what the collection is.

Revoking confirms with N download links revoked. N is the count of links for that collection still live when you switched the toggle off, and all of them stop working at once. The word reads link rather than links when there was only one, and a collection with nothing live left to revoke shows No active download links. instead. The old links no longer offer the one file download. The collection is still public, so visitors can still view it, import it and send it to a device. Every route in the collection is still in your library, because revoking a link changes who can download rather than what you own. Switch Allow downloads back on to mint a new link.

What a visitor sees#

A share link opens outside the app, and a visitor needs no account to view it.

A shared route opens at inviagps.com/route/… and a shared ride at /ride/…, showing the map, the line, the stats and the waypoints. Open in INVIA takes the visitor into the app, where the copy is saved after sign-in. When you allowed downloads on that link the page carries one button, GPX, rather than the pair a collection page offers, and a shared ride carries the same single GPX button. With Allow downloads off, no GPX download button is on the page, while the map, the line, the stats and the waypoints are still shown and Open in INVIA still works. The route page offers no arrows tick box with its download, because that choice belongs to the collection downloads.

A shared collection opens at inviagps.com/collection/… and shows the map with every route in its own color, the list and the total distance. Open in INVIA copies the whole collection into the visitor's library after sign-in. Two download buttons, Download for Garmin and Download for mobile, appear only when you allowed downloads through a download link. Download for mobile has arrows pre-checked because phone apps do not draw direction. Public pages.

Your public profile lists everything you have chosen to share, as a map of lines or as cards, covering stats, epics, rides, routes and collections, and friends see your friends-level items too. A private profile shows only your name and an invitation to connect, so your items are hidden from visitors while each one stays in your library at the level you set.

An event page is open to everyone at inviagps.com/event/…, so anyone with the link can view it without an account, whether or not you invited them.
