New collection

A collection is one name over a set of routes and rides, and you build it in two steps: name it first, then fill it. You can stop after the name, because a collection is allowed to be empty and you can add routes to it at any time.

From the Collections page#

1. Open the dialog. Press + New Collection in the header, or the + next to Collections in the sidebar. Both open the same dialog, so use whichever is on screen.
2. Name it. Enter a name in Collection name... and, if you like, a description, because the name is how you will find the collection later.
3. Add routes. The picker reads Add routes to "{name}" and gives you Search routes… so you can find a route by name rather than scrolling for it. Tick the routes and rides you want, or press Import GPX / KML files to bring files straight into the new collection rather than importing them first and adding them afterwards. When nothing matches, the picker says No routes found, so widen the search or press Skip for now and add routes later.
4. Finish. Press Add N Routes to file the ticked ones, or Skip for now to create the collection empty, then Done.

New collections are stowed, which means their routes stay inside the collection and off your Home lists until you switch the toggle to Listed. A new collection therefore does not change what your Home lists already show. Stowed and Listed.

Other ways a collection is created#

Not every collection starts from that dialog, so one can appear that you did not open the picker to make.

• On the Home tab, the + next to Collections opens an inline Name... field in the sidebar, so you can start one without leaving the page you are on. The Collections page dialog reads Collection name... instead, which is the same job under a longer label.
• Importing one file that holds several tracks creates a collection named after the file, so the tracks arrive under one name rather than as separate items in your library. Formats and packaging.
• The Save Route dialog's Collection field files a new route into an existing collection as you save it, so you do not have to find the route again afterwards.

Keep each file together as one item#

This tickbox belongs to the import dialog rather than to the Collections page. It is ticked from the start, so a file holding several tracks arrives as one item instead of scattering its tracks through your library. The note under it names the file and tells you the tracks stay together, and unticking it brings those tracks in separately.

The tickbox appears only when the import holds a file with more than one track. When you import a single file and choose a collection as the destination, the tickbox is hidden, because that choice already decides where the tracks land.

On a Free account the tick is fixed on, so the import still completes as one item and splitting a multi-track file apart is the Pro part.

Adding to it later#

Four controls add routes to a collection that already exists, so you can file a route from wherever you find it.

The Add Routes picker lists routes and rides together, so a recorded ride files into a collection the same way a planned route does.

On a route or ride's own page the entry reads Add to collection… until the item is in a collection, after which it reads Add to another collection.

Add to Collection in select mode#

Use the Home tab for this, because the Collections page's own select bar carries only GPX, Device and Delete. Ticking collection cards there never files routes into a collection. Select modes.

Add to Collection acts on every card you have ticked, which is why the button stays disabled until at least one card is ticked. When more than one is ticked, the picker states how many items are selected under its heading, so you can check the count before you choose a collection.

Choosing a collection files all of the ticked items at once, appended to the end of the collection, and INVIA confirms with a count and the collection's name before select mode closes itself. An item already in that collection is not filed twice.
