Collections

A collection is a set of routes and rides under one name, so a multi-day trip, a route pack or a riding area travels as one thing. It carries its own description, its own waypoints and a cover map that INVIA redraws whenever the collection changes, and one route can sit in several collections at once.

Making one and filling it#

Press + New Collection on the Collections page, name it, then tick the routes and rides you want from your library. Press Import GPX / KML files in that same picker to bring files straight into the new collection, rather than importing them first and filing them afterwards.

Add more later from + Add Routes on the collection, from Add to Collection on any library card, or from the Device page after you import recorded tracks. A free account holds a set number of collections, and that limit is checked only when you press + New Collection, so adding routes to a collection you already have is never blocked. Reaching the limit shows Collections limit reached with an offer of Pro for unlimited collections, and the message names no figure, so the exact count is not shown anywhere in the app.

Where the routes show#

Every collection carries one toggle, and new collections start stowed so that a twelve-stage route pack does not fill your Routes grid the moment you import it.

A stowed collection keeps its routes inside itself rather than deleting them, so everything you filed in is still there. Open the collection and the routes are all there, ready to open, send or share. Switch the toggle to Listed to put them back on your lists, or press the eye icon on one member to list that member and leave the rest stowed. Changing Stowed to Listed is a Pro feature. Taking a route back out#

Use Move to Routes for a route this collection owns, which puts it on your Routes list, or on your Rides list for a ride. Use Remove from this collection for a route another collection owns, which leaves that route sitting in the collection that owns it. Neither item deletes the route, because taking a route out changes where it is filed and nothing else.

A route's own waypoints travel with it. Waypoints you added to the collection itself stay in the collection, so pulling a route out does not strip the collection of its own pins. How waypoints travel.

Sharing a collection#

Make the collection public first, then press Share to copy its link. A visitor sees the map, the route list and the distance, and Open in INVIA copies the whole collection into their library once they sign in.

Downloading is a separate permission from sharing. A collection holding anything saved from another rider has no download buttons, because a file would carry that rider's waypoints out with it. The share link still opens and Open in INVIA still works. For a collection of your own routes, switch on Allow downloads in the share sheet, which mints a link you can revoke later. Sending a collection to a Garmin#

Connect the Garmin on the Device page, press Send to Device, then choose the storage and whether you want direction arrows drawn into the lines. INVIA writes two files, one holding a track per route in your collection order and one holding every waypoint in the package, and the pair counts as one device send.

A package carries up to 500 waypoints. That ceiling is INVIA's own and not a Garmin one, because Garmin documents no waypoint capacity per model, so INVIA stops short of what any Garmin can hold.

The send still goes through when a collection holds more. INVIA writes the tracks file in full and then a waypoints file holding the first 500, so the tracks are never trimmed and only pins go missing. Anything past that is left off the waypoints file and named in a message, so an overflow is never silent. That message is red and follows the success message, and it gives the number sent out of the total, the number left off and the names of the first three. Working on several at once#

Select in the Collections page header ticks whole collection cards, while Select inside an open collection ticks the routes within that one, so each mode offers the batch actions that suit what you ticked. Deleting a collection moves its routes back to My Routes, which is true of one card or a batch of them.

Clean up is a Pro tool that finds collections sharing a name or holding the same set of routes, then removes the extras. One collection in each group always survives, and the routes from every removed collection go back to My Routes. Select modes and clean-up.
