Hover, select and open

Hovering a route line previews it, clicking selects it, and Open takes you to the item page where you can save it or pin it.

The map and the sidebar follow each other, so pointing at a line scrolls its row into view, and clicking that line opens a panel for it above the list.

Hover#

Hover a route line and every other line dims, so you can follow the one under your pointer across a map of crossing lines. A card opens with:

• The name.
• The distance.
• The difficulty by consensus.
• Who built it.
• Favourites.
• Collections.
• Versions.

The list follows your pointer as well, which means a row already off screen is scrolled into view. It waits a short pause first, so that sweeping the cursor across crossing lines does not make the list jump.

What you see while you hover:

• The line under the pointer stays bright, with its card open.
• Every other line is dimmed.
• The matching row in the list keeps its place in the order.

What still works:

• The dimmed lines are still on the map, because dimming changes brightness and nothing else.
• Hovering another line reads that line's card instead.
• Hovering does not move a route to the top of the list, because only clicking does that.

What to do:

1. Move the pointer off the route line. Every line returns to full brightness about a third of a second later, which leaves time to move onto the sidebar row without losing the highlight.

Select#

Click a line to select it, which holds its card in place with an Open button so you can read the card without keeping the pointer on the line. The selected line glows, and a panel opens above the list carrying the name, the distance, the difficulty, by {rider} beneath the name and an Open route button. Clearing the selection closes that panel again.

When the selected line stands for several near-identical routes, the panel also carries a row reading N versions from different riders. Expanding that row lists each rider and marks the one drawn on the map as shown. Opening a name from that list opens that rider's copy of the route, which is how you read a version other than the one drawn.

Esc clears the selected route and the road card, and nothing else.

What you see after Esc:

• The card is closed and the line no longer glows.
• The sidebar goes back to listing the routes in view.
• The other lines stay faint while your pointer is still on a line, because the dim follows the pointer rather than the selection.

What still works:

• Every route is still on the map and still in the list, because clearing a selection changes nothing you own.
• Every route line returns to full brightness about a third of a second after you move the pointer off the line, whether or not you press Esc.

What to do:

1. Move the pointer off the route line if the other lines are still faint.
2. Click the line to select it again, or hover it to read its card.

Open#

Open leaves the map for the item page, which carries the full detail and the actions the card has no room for. Two of those actions decide where the item ends up:

Pin from the sidebar#

Any route, ride or collection in the list can be pinned to your profile without opening it, so you can mark what you find while you are still reading the map. A toast tells you which of three things happened:

Pins are saved to your profile, so pinning needs you signed in. Sign in and press the pin again.

A pin puts the item on your profile rather than copying it into your library, so use Import to Library on the item page when you want your own copy.

One trail, many riders#

Several riders can upload nearly the same trail, and Explore collapses those near-identical routes into one line and one row rather than stacking duplicates on top of each other.

What you see:

• One line on the map for that trail.
• One row in the list reading N riders · M collections.

What still works:

• Every rider's version is still on INVIA, because grouping changes how the trail is drawn and listed and nothing else.
• The counts on the row tell you how many riders rode it and how many collections hold it.
• Selecting the line opens the same version list in the panel above the list, which marks the rider drawn on the map as shown.

What to do:

1. Expand the row to list the individual versions.
2. Open the version you want.

Roads under the routes#

Tap anywhere that is not a route line and Explore opens the card for the road underneath, so a map busy with community routes still lets you read the road itself.

Route selection and road tap are exclusive, which means each one clears the other:

Neither action removes anything from the map, so the route you had selected is still drawn and you can click it again.
